Pink is the new black for 2020, according to Benjamin Moore & Co. The world famous paint company chose First Light 2102-70 as the color for the new decade, a rosy shade of pastel pink that balances on the line between warm and cool. The rosy pink color is a total change from the Neapolitan, a subtle off-white hue that held the title of Color of the Year in 2019. This is also Benjamin Moore’s first time adding any shade of pink to the Color of the Year List, making way for innovation and growth for the company.

“We selected First Light 2102-70 as our Color of the Year 2020 to represent a new dawn of idealism, design and living,” states Andrea Magno, the Director of Color Marketing and Development. First Light is invigorating and passionate like the other pastel hues from the Color Trends 2020 palette. This new color collection is a sign of change in the new year according to Hannah Yeo, Benjamin Moore’s Color & Design manager. The design team worked hard to capture the sense of hope and dreams for the future, and chose First Light as the winning color for the new year. The pink shade is a step towards a brighter, bolder style of home living.

Benjamin Moore’s Color Trends 2020 palette is a complete change from the more subtle, safe colors of 2019’s palettes. First Light and the other shades featured are bold, yet soft on the eyes. The palette offers nine other shades hand selected by the company’s experts. Magno states the goal of the color palette is to satisfy “the core needs in life: community, comfort, security, self-expression, authenticity and ultimately, optimism.” With the new palette, the design teams have captured these needs and ideals for everyone to enjoy in the comfort of their own home.

It is safe to say that 2020 will be bright, happy and exciting. Pink has been recently gaining popularity, and Benjamin Moore decided to hop on the bandwagon along with other sensational pastel colors. The new palette is only the beginning for the new decade. With new color collections and expressive trends, the new decade can bloom with dreams and ideas of a better future.
